North Creek Explorer 5k Run/walk

Saturday, December 7, 2024

We invite you to join us this year for the 16th Annual North Creek Explorer 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 5 PM. The North Creek Explorer 5K race has been a local favorite for many years because it’s a Saturday evening race with a great atmosphere which includes live music and food for all. It also gives the community the opportunity to interface with the Coconut Creek Police Department officers. We look forward to seeing all the runners and their families and friends come together in support of the Coconut Creek Police Explorer Program.

The race will start at 5 PM and conclude with an awards ceremony recognizing the overall top male and female runners as well as top male and female age group winners. There is also awards for top male and female first responders. First 130 finishers will receive a medal.

All proceeds will directly benefit the Coconut Creek Police Department Explorer Program that supports protecting and serving our future community. The Explorers Program provides students, ages 14 – 18, actual experience and training for a career in law enforcement. Proceeds will cover costs for uniforms, equipment, trips, regional competitions and supplies. Without your help students cannot cover these costs or pursue their passion - giving back to the community. Help us meet our fundraising goal of $5,000 and give these students and our community the bright future it deserves! Show your support by signing up for the race or simply donating below.

All runners will receive a swag bag with dri-fit logo shirt. Race day registration and packet pick up for all runners will start at 3:30 PM on race day.

Registration fees is as follows:

Explorer Testimonies

Kreg & Nicholas Costa

“We are brothers that joined the Coconut Creek Police Explorers in January 2022. We come from a family of first responders, and we are both interested in becoming Law Enforcement Officers. Our time in the Post has been a great learning experience. We have enjoyed being part of the Competition Team and competing both locally and on the State level. We also enjoy volunteering at the community events. Our favorite part of being Police Explorers has been doing ride alongs with the road patrol officers. It has given us a very good idea of what the job is like and allowed us to make connections with officers within the agency.”

Patrick Pierre

“I wanted to become a Police Explorer because I am interested in law enforcement. I want to learn more about the different types of positions that law enforcement has to offer.  I am hoping that Police Explorers will help me decide if I want to go into Law Enforcement once I am done with college.  So far I have enjoyed being a part of Explorers and the competitions, events and fun activities that the program offers us.  I have also met many different people working city events through the Explorer Program.”

Sahara Apollonio

“I joined the Coconut Creek Police Explorers in April of 2023 to try and take part in serving my community. Through this program I was able to not only serve the citizens around me, but join a family of people with a similar mindset. Police Explorers has done an amazing job at teaching me about our local law enforcement, discipline, and teamwork. I am very glad to be an explorer.”
